It’s not easy hiring a lawyer. It’s never fun in your lifetime to say, “Oh, goodie, I get to go out and hire a lawyer today.” But there are some things you can do to increase your chances of getting a lawyer that you’ll work well with.
Give Yourself Options when Researching Attorneys
What we suggest is that you consult with two or three lawyers that know what they’re doing. You can start with Google and do some Google searches and see if a law firm specializes in the area that you need. For instance, for trust and will litigation in California, you can do a Google search for “California trust and will litigation” and a whole lot of attorneys will show up.
Do Your Research Before Hiring a Lawyer
Go through a few of their webpages. Read the profiles of the attorneys and look at their webpages. See if the information they provide makes sense to you and if they may be able to help you, then call the attorney and have a consultation. Generally, if you have a little chemistry with the attorney, if they are talking to you and they’re making you feel good, and they let you know of their plan to help you, the chances are, that may be a good choice.
Go ahead and interview a second and third attorney, just to get a comparison between all the attorneys, to see which one you like the most.
If you’ll do those small steps, the chances are that you’ll end up with an attorney who can help you with the legal problem you’re facing.
